A snapping turtle found in a parking lot at 447 Purdy Hill Road in Monroe at 11:26 a.m. on May 16 was captured and released in a location that is safe from traffic, according to police. More sightings should soon be expected, because June is known as "Snapping Turtle Month", a time when female turtles leave the water and travel several miles on land, so they can lay their eggs. The following arrest information was provided in a press release by Detective Sergeant Kevin Ahern of the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.
On May 15, Shelton police detectives along with agents from the New Haven office of the United States Secret Service executed a search and seizure warrant at 52 Shinnacock Trail in Shelton. Detective Richard Bango was investigating a case of $20 counterfeit bills being passed at a local business in Shelton. Approximately $7,000, in different stages of print, was seized in the search along with other items pertinent to the investigation, police said. Arrested was 22-year-old Kyle S. Ouellet of the same address. Ouellet was charged with first degree forgery and is currently being held on a $15,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on May 16.

A woman is accused of stealing $1,084 in merchandise from Kohl's in Trumbull on May 6. Police said she put clothing in bags, entered a dressing room and walked out holding the bags. Her bond was set at $7,500. *** A man was charged for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license after he slowly fell off his moped while driving down the Post Road in Fairfield. Police also found a bag of pot in the man’s pocket. *** An adult female opossum nearly died after it was hit by a car in front of a supermarket in Monroe this week, officers with the town's Animal Control unit say. Do news organizations that publish 911 call audio help or harm the communities they serve?
The initial shockwave that swept through Fairfield County last week after the Ramsey family tragedy changed to disgust following the decision of area news outlets to publish the graphic 911 recording, during which Mrs. Ramsey told the dispatcher that her husband was lying dead “in a pool of blood.” Patch received access to the tape but did not publish a link to it. As an American writer who considers the First Amendment our most cherished right, I believe that making 911 tapes available to the public is essential to community safety; however, are we not also human beings? Connecticut State Police have a warrant for Edward Taylor, 21, of Bridgeport, on charges of third degree assault, criminal mischief and breach of peace, in connection with an incident that occurred in April at Housatonic Community College.
State Police at Troop G in Bridgeport are asking for the public's help in locating Edward Taylor, 21, whose last known address is 145 Pleasantview Avenue, Bridgeport. Taylor, a black male, is believed to be in the Bridgeport area. State police have a warrant for his arrest on charges of third degree assault, criminal mischief and breach of peace, in connection with an incident that occurred in April at Housatonic Community College. Police believe suspect Christopher French may be responsible for a robbery at a tanning in salon that occurred on Friday.

It does not indicate convictions.] A Shelton man was charged Saturday in connection with at least one armed robbery in Fairfield and several in Bridgeport and Stratford, police said. Christopher French, 36, of Huntington Heights in Shelton, was charged with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny after he was arrested on a warrant in Trumbull by Fairfield police for his suspected involvement in the Adams Bakery robbery in late April. Police believe French was also involved in a robbery reported at Sahara, a tanning salon at 173 Post Road on Friday. Todd Yezbick, 44, was struck by a 1999 Grand Voyager while he was trying to cross Barnum Avenue.
A Shelton man was reportedly struck and killed by a vehicle on Saturday while trying to cross a street in Stratford. According to a report on WTNH, citing statements made by police, Todd Yezbick, 44, was struck by a 1999 Grand Voyager while he was trying to cross Barnum Avenue. Yezbick was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police are investigating. “Someone was murdered ... My husband is in a pool of blood,” a woman identified by police as the wife of Edward Ramsey said in a 911 recording released Friday by Wilton police.
The 22-year-old Connecticut man who police say confessed to killing his father has been arraigned in state Superior Court in Stamford and held on $1 million bond. Wearing a light blue overalls-style top, wearing only socks and kept apart from other prisoners who were shackled together, Aaron Ramsey, of Wilton, appeared in court Friday for arraignment on a murder charge following the death by blunt force trauma of 73-year-old Edward Ramsey. “This is a sad day for Wilton and a tragedy for the family,” Wilton First Selectman William Brennan said late Friday morning during a press briefing at the Wilton Police Department.
