Hey Jim Eastwood. You should change your name to Jim Hardwood. That's what seems to happen whenever…Read More you talk about cops and firemen. You get the vapors. Oh,how I love those big strong men in uniform!
Which means the cops did a cop job of standing around and looking at an accident. Something that…Read More could have been done with a fraction of man power.
Thank you Richard. I am going to call DMV on Monday as well as BBB and Attorney General's Office.…Read More I am also considering a small claims suit since another auto body shop has quoted me $1,700 minimum to repair the car the way it was suppose to be done. In regard to the insurance co recommended shop - I checked that shop on line and wasn't impressed with the reviews. This shop came as a suggestion by someone else (who I don't know very well - 1st mistake). But I did consider what you mentioned prior to going with this shop. Initially it seemed on the up n up to me - lesson learned.
Also, it was brought to my attention that this shop advertises that they will save you money on your deductible. My deductible is only $500 so that was not a major issue for me but I was not opposed to saving a dollar there nonetheless. I was NOT told this would result in a less than acceptable job however. But a bigger issue is it was brought to my attention that this tactic is against the law. You cannot advertise you will save a deductible...it's called steering I'm told. I will be reporting this as well.
I am considering calling WTNH on Monday as well. AAA doesn't not realize they just burned the wrong woman. Wish me luck. Any further direction or suggestions are welcome.
Hi Marie,
If you want results the proper agency that handles motor vehicle complaints in the State…Read More of Connecticut is The department of Motor Vehicles. Trust me, a letter from the DMV to AAA is all that is needed to get the ball rolling.
The DMV will do a follow up if needed. All motor vehicle repair facilities in this state must be licensed by the DMV. The last thing AAA wants is to have the DMV get involved.
You should have taken your car to the shop that your insurance company recommended. Those shops work with insurance companies all of the time and are willing to do it for what the insurance companies are willing to pay. This would have added a layer of protection for you, the consumer. Your insurance company could have acted on your behalf by threatening to withhold any future work from the company they recommended and notified the DMV on their and your best interest.
I have always found that any repair facility, or any company as matter of fact, is only as good as its best mechanic/worker.
My e-mail address is: freedmonthekeys@gmail.com. If there are other customers of this…Read More establishment that have had the same experience, please contact me. I am calling the Attorney General's Office on Monday to inquire.
