'Much Ado About Nothing' Coming to Shelton Riverwalk This Weekend

The three free performances run from 8 to 10 p.m. on July 10-12.

Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" is headed to Shelton this week, with performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Shelton Riverwalk and Veteran Memorial Park.

Presented by Valley Shakespeare Festival, the three free performances run from 8 to 10 p.m. on each night of the show, and the park opens for picnicking at 6:30 p.m. A $10 donation is suggested.

This is the festival's second season. Auditions took place in late March, and rehearsals began last month.

Last year, the festival put on productions of "The Comedy of Errors," but the organization has been busy year-round with a Shakespeare in the Bar series, a reading of "Macbeth" at Porky's Cafe and a celebration for William Shakespeare's 450th birthday.

Patrons can expect an All Hallow's Eve fundraiser in October and an adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" for the holiday season.

But for now, theater lovers can bring blankets, chairs and snacks to enjoy "Much Ado About Nothing," from July 10-12.

Guests are asked not to bring alcohol to the performances.
