New Shelton Dog Park Sculpture Adds Flair

Seymour resident Tim Bonney sculpted and decorated this statue outside the dog park within a matter of days. All photos courtesy of Shelton Dog Park members, volunteers.

It all began on August 31. Most of Shelton was without power thanks to Tropical Storm Irene, and a tree at the was topped, leaving a five-foot high stump right on the corner of the property at Route 108 and Nells Rock Road.

Seymour wood carver Tim Bonney presented an idea to Shelton's Park and Recreation Director Ron Herrick, and was given the OK to carve a sculpture from the remaining tree stump into a dog with the Park's name displayed at the base.

The following photo album, though the featured image is not the first in the series, shows the progression of the sculpting process, which began on Thursday, Oct. 6 and was completed the following Monday, Oct. 10.
