New York Yankees senior vice president and general manager and Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein will appear at Sacred Heart University on Jan. 31 for a"Hot Stove Talk."
The baseball panel discussion will take place at SHU'sEdgerton Center for the Performing Arts on 5151 Park Ave in Fairfield. The session, which gets under way at 7 p.m., will be hosted by Steve Berthiaume of ESPN's "Baseball Tonight."

Tickets are $35 to the general public, $25 to SHU faculty, part-time students and grad students and $15 to SHU fulltime undergrad students.

The Shelton boys basketball team opened the second half of the season Friday with a 58-48 loss to Amity.
Christian Pierre scored 18 points for the Gaels, who suffered their second straight loss and third in four games to drop to 4-7.
Kevin Kochiss scored 14 points and Zac Cohen and Zac Campbell added 13 apiece for Amity, which improved to 9-2.
Ryan Testani added 11 for Shelton, which only trailed 19-18 at the half, but Amity outscored the Gaels 16-13 in the period, then slowly pulled away in the fourth quarter to win by double figures.

Christian Keator scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period Saturday as the St. Joseph boys hockey team posted a 2-1 victory over Staples-Weston-Shelton at the Shelton Rinks.
The Cadets, who were coming off a last-minute 4-3 win over Trumbull, improved to 7-4 while the Wreckers dropped to 6-2.
St. Joseph's Matt Julian and Staples-Weston-Shelton's Forrest Savage traded goals in the first period.
Riley Macdonald made 37 saves for Staples while Ron Johnson stopped 15 shots for St. Joseph, which finished with a 39-15 edge in shots.
