The Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission has okayed two new businesses allowed a fourth to expand.

The first is Urban Exposition, 2 Trap Falls Road. The event management company will use about 3,000 square feet and be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Globex International was next, occupying about 2,400 square feet at 100 Beard Sawmill Road. The previous tenant was Health Net, zoning officials said. Its hours would be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Finally, Davita Healthcare, 750 Bridgeport Ave., will be allowed to expand its dialysis center. Peter Francini, of Franbard Shelton LLC, the owner of the building, said the expansion will allow more patients.

According to meeting minutes, Francini said when the office opened 14 years ago, "the hours were Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. but now they work 10 hours a day, Monday through Friday and Saturdays too now."

Francini later added that "this keeps them in Shelton because they were considering moving a couple of years ago. Now they are considering another five[-year lease] because they are going to spend more money.

"It is something that is needed in the area. There are a lot of people suffering," the landlord said.
