"The 'Blocking the Box' requirements have now been completed at several intersections in the downtown area. The intersections at Howe Ave/Center St, Howe Ave/Bridge St, Howe Ave/White St, and Center St/Coram Ave have been painted and signs have been posted making them compliant with the statute," said Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.
“The purpose of this law is not only to help with the flow of traffic, but also to allow emergency vehicles to get through the intersections safely. We hope to have voluntarily compliance with the law rather than issue tickets,” said Chief Joel W. Hurliman.
