Larceny Charge, Car Crash Investigation

A 22-year-old Shelton woman faces larceny charges, Shelton police are investigating a recent car accident.

A Shelton woman has been charged with larceny after stealing from a home on Edgewood Road in Oxford, police said.

Danielle Cajigas, 22, of 45 Woodfield Drive, was charged with fifth-degree larceny after police learned she pawned the stolen items at a local pawn shop, according to a police report.

She has pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge and is scheduled for a pre-trial conference at Derby Superior Court on August 20.

Cajigas has charges pending from arrests in Shelton, where she was charged with two counts of sixth-degree larceny and forgery in two separate incidents. Both cases are awaiting disposition, according to Judicial Branch records.

The investigation into the accident on July 30 at approximately 8:45 p.m. on River Road is ongoing. No enforcement action has been taken at this time. The initial investigation revealed that 48-year-old Jean Pina, of Shelton, was traveling southbound on River Road and attempted to turn left onto Wallace Street when her vehicle struck a vehicle operated by 24-year-old James Gorel, of Shelton, who was traveling northbound on River Road.

Pina and her two 13-year-old passengers were treated at the scene and transported to the hospital. Gorel and a 23-year old-passenger were also treated at the scene and transported to the hospital. 

Both vehicles sustained major damage from the crash.
