Cops: Man Tried to Drag Shelton Officer

Recent arrests by Shelton Police.

Michael Mitchell, 37, of High Ridge Drive, Bridgeport, faces a laundry list of charges after allegedly trying to drive away from a motor vehicle stop.

Mitchell is charged with assaulting a police officer, improper use of a license, interfering with an officer, driving without insurance, driving without a license and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Police said a truck was reported driving around the Shelton Square parking lot on Bridgeport Avenue and it was later spotted in the Shop Rite parking lot.

When officers approached, Mitchell, the driver, allegedly tried to flee as an officer reached into the car to turn off the engine.

No one was injured.

Mitchell's bond was set at $5,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
