Obituary: Lillian Cavallaro, Age 93

Lillian Cavallaro, age 93, of Shelton entered into rest on Jan. 3, 2013 at the Griffin Hospital. She was born in Derby on Sept. 20, 1919 daughter of the late Michael Cavallaro and Brigida Ferrara Cavallaro Esposito.

Lillian was a stitcher/seamstress for Uniroyal for over 19 years. She was a proud member of St. Joseph Parish and the Rosary Society. For many years in her retirement, Lillian would be seen walking downtown to do errands and work with her best friend at Mary’s Alterations. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, sewing, cooking and looking after her many nieces and nephews. Sunday morning meatballs were her specialty. Lillian and her sister Mary loved to invite the family over for all of the holidays. She is survived by a brother-in-law Joseph Federowicz, sister-in-laws, Madeline, Millie and Helen Cavallaro and many nieces and nephews. Lillian is predeceased by her brothers, Louis, Fred and Joseph Cavallaro, sisters, Mary Cavallaro, Antoinette Achilli, Loretta Mormile, Rose Achille and Violet Federowicz.

Friends may call on Monday from 9:15 - 10:00 a.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Her burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Grammer School, 430 Coram Ave., Shelton CT 06484.
