Obituary: Kevin Gannon, Age 44

Kevin Gannon, age 44, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, January 11, 2013, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (McCafferty) Gannon. Kevin was born in Cleveland, OH, on September 1, 1968, son of Robert F. Gannon of Shelton and the late Patricia (Forrey) Gannon, and lived in Shelton most of his life.

He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School, class of ‘86, and St. Francis University, class of 90. He was a Market Manager for Advantage Staffing, where he worked for 18 years. Kevin was very active in Shelton youth sports, and served as a Coach and the Player Agent for Shelton American Little League. He also coached and served on the board of the Shelton Flag Football League. Kevin was always involved in Shelton’s adult recreational leagues, playing softball for over 27 years as well as volleyball. He was also a longtime member of St. Lawrence Church.

Kevin was the proud and devoted father of Bridget, Brian, Caitlin, and Owen Gannon. He also leaves two brothers, Robert J. Gannon and his wife Kristin, and Terence Gannon, three sisters, Mary Roggenstein and her husband Peter, Eileen Lassek and her husband Brett, and Noreen Fahey and her husband Patrick, his mother-in-law Barbara McCafferty, eight nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his mother, he was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Francis McCafferty, and an infant nephew.

Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Wednesday from 2 to 7 PM. On Thursday, friends are invited to meet at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. At the request of the family, memorial contributions can be made to the Kevin Gannon Children’s Education Fund through the funeral home.
