How to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions Stick

Helpful tips on how to make your weight loss goals a reality and information on a free talk about weight loss on Tues., Jan. 22 at Griffin Hospital.

Year after year, weight loss remains the most popular New Year’s Resolution. Unfortunately, research has shown that after six months, fewer than 50 percent of people making resolutions actually stick to their goals. After a year, that number declines to 10 percent. With those odds, you may be wondering how to make your New Year’s resolutions stick.

“Many people often fail to stay true to their commitment because they are looking for a quick fix,” says Dr. Elliot Mathias, weight loss expert and Medical Director at Medi-Weightloss® of Shelton. “However, there is no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to weight loss. You didn’t gain the weight overnight. Don’t expect to lose it overnight.”

If you are resolved to meeting this year's weight loss goal or if you are ready to make a belated resolution to achieve and maintain a healthier weight in 2013, Griffin Hospital is offering a free presentation to help you see the “lite.” Nutrition experts from Medi-Weightloss Clinics will present “Resolve to Reduce Your Waistline” on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will learn key action items that will help them achieve their weight loss resolution. 

The “Resolve to Reduce Your Waistline” presentation is part of Griffin Hospital's Healthy U “Tuesday Talks,” a series of free wellness talks featuring Griffin Hospital medical experts and community partners providing trusted health information and answers to questions on a wide range of topics.
