Pitney Bowes Moves About 170 Jobs From Shelton to Danbury

News follows announcement that Perkin-Elmer will be issuing pink slips to about 75 workers at its Shelton facility over the next year.

In to the fragile local economy, Pitney Bowes, the international communications firm, has announced the opening of its new Global Technology Center in Danbury, signaling that the company will soon be moving about another 170 jobs from to the new facility.

The news follows last month’s announcement from Perkin-Elmer, the global manufacturing company, would be later this year, after deciding to send those jobs overseas.

According to a report in the CT Post, although Pitney Bowes will be closing its facility at 35 Waterview Drive, it plans to keep its second Shelton office, where it has recovery services and an innovation center, open.

The move reportedly brings Pitney Bowes’ engineering, research and development, and product management for its communications solutions business under one roof.
