SHS is Shelton's only public high school. It houses students in grades 9-12. In June 2009, it graduated 313 individualsMore with 78 percent of them going on to two and four-year schools of higher education. The town takes pride in its high school; sports games are popular, the drama club's theatrical productions have been praised and many volunteer activities are available through the school. SHS offers a variety of courses in addition to its general requirements, and groups students by learning ability so that different needs are met.

There are 54More sworn officers and 15 civilian members dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Shelton by providing professional services to its residents. The Police Department also supports and is involved in numerous community activities such as the Special Olympics and The Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking.
