The Shelton Historical Society was founded in 1969.  It showcases Shelton's history in a museum and other historical buildings on Ripton Road. Some of the other historical sites run by this organization include the Brownson House, Trap Fall School and the Wilson Barn. Special programs are also held including classic car shows, a childrens camp in August, a Civil War re-enactment and weekly reading circles.
