Splash Car Wash Joins National 'Wash Away Thirst' Campaign

in Shelton has partnered with Wash Away Thirst, a national campaign launched last month to provide clean drinking water to 500 million people in need worldwide. Splash Shelton joins over 80 independent car wash operators across the country to “Wash Away Thirst” by donating one gallon of clean drinking water for every car washed through June 2012.

Approximately one billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water. An estimated 80 percent of sickness and disease in developing nations is attributed to unsafe drinking water causing 42,000 deaths every week. Wash Away Thirst works in partnership with Wasrag – Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group – which was formed by Rotary International in 2007 to solve the global water & sanitation challenge.

In addition to the Shelton location, Splash Car Wash locations throughout New Haven, Fairfield and Upper Westchester counties are also participating. Since the onset of the campaign, all 17 Splash locations together have provided more than 150,000 gallons of clean drinking water to the needy in underdeveloped nations.
