Girl Scout Volunteer Receives National Honor

A Shelton volunteer was awarded with the Appreciation Pin this week.

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is proud to announce that Cindy Iorfino of was awarded the prestigious Girl Scout Appreciation Pin at the organization’s Annual Meeting on May 23.

A national recognition for adult Girl Scouts, the Appreciation Pin recognizes a member who practices the values of inclusive behavior and who has delivered outstanding service above expectations to at least one geographic area within the state they serve.

Cindy Iorfino has been a Girl Scout Troop Leader for over 12 years as well as the Service Unit Manager, overseeing 61 troops this year. Cindy has been a School Coordinator, where she recruits and mentors a minimum of 12 new leaders per year. She also plans and facilitates several Service Unit events and programs each year, encouraging leader and volunteer involvement throughout the area.

All of the recipients of this year’s Appreciation Pin are inspiring, dedicated Girl Scout volunteers with a deep commitment to building girls of courage, confidence and character. Their exemplary leadership has helped Girl Scouts throughout Connecticut gain important lifetime skills they need to discover themselves and their values, connect with others to build healthy relationships, and take action in their communities to make the world a better place.
