9th Annual Courage to Speak Empowering Youth to Be Drug-Free Family Night on March 19 @ 5:15pm -West Rocks Middle School, Norwalk. Open to Community. More info call: 203-831-9700

Dear Friends:

You are invited to the 9th Annual Courage to Speak Empowering Youth to be Drug Free Family Night at West Rocks Middle School, 81 West Rocks Rd, Norwalk, CT on March 19, 2013(snow date March 20) at 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm for a very exciting event. Bring your children ages 8-18 with you. The event is open to all communities in Fairfield County and beyond.

It’s about one thing – bringing children and parents together to talk openly and honestly about the dangers of drugs.

We know the pain of watching drugs take a child’s life. The Courage to Speak Foundation exists to prevent another family from feeling the heartbreak of losing a child . We want you to see and feel the danger that is present before it becomes a disaster.

How I wish this night - this gathering - was available when my son Ian was still alive.

A drug overdose killed him. He was only 20.

For the past 16 years, we’ve told Ian’s story to hundreds of thousands of parents and children here in Connecticut and across the nation.

We know that the Courage to Speak live presentations, videos, book and drug prevention
curriculum the children in many communities participated in this year have saved lives.

Students tell us after each program "I'll never do drugs. I didn't really know how bad they
could be." We're here to help you make sure your children get this message in their heart as soon as possible, and before it’s too late.

So attend and enjoy the evening, be proud of what the children have accomplished, listen to them read their vow not to use drugs and learn everything you can about the danger of drugs and how they can affect your child. And, in the future, perhaps you will sign up for our program called Courage to Speak-Courageous Parenting 101®, available in English and Spanish, for parents only. Or perhaps you will become a facilitator of this program that helps parents keep their children safe.

Please don’t endure the pain we did —

and thank you for taking this step towards saving your child’s life and achieving the mission we all share:

"Saving lives by empowering youth to be drug free and encouraging parents to communicate effectively with their children about the dangers of drugs."

Complimentary dinner at 5:15 pm. Program begins at 6:15 pm. Bring your children with you!
