Running to raise money and support for returning wounded soldiers and families of the fallen.

Shelton held its 3rd annual Sunset Run for the Warriors yesterday evening. The event is put on by the Hope For The Warriors organization, whose mission is "to enhance the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty."

Mayor Mark Lauretti addressed the crowd shortly before joining in the 10K run. He gave special thanks to the veterans and family members of the fallen present at the event, and to all participants.

"Our government needs to do more for returning service members, and this is one way to tell them," he said.
