The Shelton football team looks to rebound from last week's 27-0 loss to top-ranked Xavier when the Gaels visit Amity on Friday (7 p.m.).
Shelton will be looking to improve to 5-2 against the Spartans, who dropped to 2-4 following a wild 39-32 loss at Fairfield Prep last week.

With its state championship hopes pretty much dashed, Shelton now hopes to run the table to get to 8-2.
If the Gaels can get past Amity, the Fairfield Prep contest shapes up as big game toward that goal.

Following the Jesuits, Shelton takes on Cheshire (3-3), which is having a down year, before the traditional Thanksgiving Day contest against Derby.
Shelton played Xavier tough in the first half last week, only trailing 7-0 at the intermission, but the Gaels were worn down by the physical Falcons in the second half.
Amity has the ability to put points on the board as the Spartans blasted Hamden 55-26 two weeks ago. They also surpassed 40 points in their other win, 47-8 over East Haven. Of course, Amity also has given up a lot of points.
The Southern Connecticut Conference has announced the pairings for its girls soccer playoffs.
Defending SCC champion Shelton has earned the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 seed Mercy on Saturday at 7 p.m.
In other quarterfinal matchups, top seed Sacred Heart Academy entertains North Haven (11 a.m.), No. 4 Guilford takes on No. 5 Mercy (3 p.m.) and No. 3. Amity battles No. 6 West Haven (12 p.m.). All the quarterfinal contests are at the site of the higher seeds.
The semifinals are set for Monday at the higher seeds with the championship game scheduled for East Haven on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m.
After winning their first SCC title last year, the Gaelettes went on to also capture their school's initial state championship with a 1-0 victory over Westhill in the CIAC Class LL finals.
Shelton closes out its regular season on Wednesday when its hosts Hand in its annual Senior Night contest.
The Gaelettes are coming off a 4-2 win over Hamden on Monday. Angela Ferro had two goals and freshman Samantha Hartmayer and Megan Burke added one apiece.
The boys playoffs also get under way Saturday, and Shelton will be the No. 7 seed. The Gaels will take on No. 2 seed Fairfield Prep at 2 p.m. at Fairfield University's Lessing Field.
The Gaels head into the playoffs on a downslide as they concluded the regular season with a five-game winless streak (0-4-1), including a current three-game losing streak. Shelton ended its regular season with a 4-0 defeat to Xavier on Wednesday.
In other quarterfinal games, all slated for Saturday, top seed Cheshire hosts No. Hand, No. 3 Guilford entertains No. 6 Hamden and No. 4 Notre Dame of West Haven is home for No. 5 Career/Hillhouse.
The semifinals are set for Monday at the higher seeds with the championship game scheduled for East Haven on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
