The Shelton girls soccer team will host No. 3 Amity in the semifinals of the Southern Connecticut Conference tournament on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Amity advanced with a 3-1 win over No. 6 West Haven on Wednesday. In the other semifinal Thursday, top seed Sacred Heart Academy is home to No. 5 seed Cheshire at 3 p.m.

No. 2 seed Shelton, the defending SCC and CIAC Class LL state champions, reached the semifinals with a 4-2 victory over No. 7 Mercy on Tuesday.
Megan Burke, Megan Manzo, Stephanie Vahos and Olivia Mavilla scored for the Gaelettes. who improved to 13-1-3.

The final is slated for Saturday at East Haven at 12:30 p.m, although the time could change due to SATs.
Shelton's girls volleyball team also will be in action Thursday at No. 2 seed Guilford in the SCC semifinals
Guilford advanced to the semifinals with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-15) victory over No. 10 Amity on Wednesday.
Shelton booked its spot in the semifinals with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-22 decision over Sacred Heart Academy on Tuesday. Sheehan takes on top seed Cheshire in the other semifinal.
Katie Direnzo had seven kills and 13 digs and Ariel Toth added 12 kills and 10 digs for the third-seeded Gaelettes.
The CIAC has announced that the state Open cross country meet, scheduled for Friday at Manchester's Wickham Park, has been postponed until next Tuesday.
The site of the meet also has been changed as the girls and boys races now will be take place at at Hammonasset State Park in Madison. The boys will start at 1:45 p.m., followed by the girls at 2:30 p.m.
Darien won the Class L boys championship on Saturday at Wickham Park, which is unavailable for the state Open because of damage it suffered in Saturday's snowstorm.
The Open competition will determine which runners qualify for the New England championships Nov. 12 at Ponaganset High School in North Scituate, R.I.
The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department will be running bus trips to see the UConn men and women's basketball teams at XL Center in Hartford. The women will take on West Virginia on Wednesday, January 4 at 7 p.m. The bus will leave the Shelton Community Center at 4:30. The cost is $28.
The defending national champion men will battle Notre Dame on Sunday, January 29 at noon. The bus will leave the Community Center at 10:00 am. The cost is $33.
Those interested need to register at the Shelton Community Center, 41 Church Street. Both games have upper level seating.
The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department will once again be sponsoring adult open gym basketball during the fall and winter months. The open basketball program will take place Sunday mornings at the Shelton High School gym.

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of ageand be a Shelton resident, or a full time worker in Shelton to qualify to play. Participants must registerat the Shelton Parks and Recreation Department in the Community Center, 41 Church Street and be issued a photo ID card. Participants must show their membership ID at the gym each week.
This is an adult program and players are asked not to bring children due to lack of insurance for non-participants. Players are also asked not to bring basketballs to the gym. Basketballs will be provided.
The Shelton Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a youth coed wrestling program for children in grades 5 through 8. The program will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15-7:30 pm. It will begin December 6 and run for 20 sessions in the Shelton High School auxiliary gymnasium. The program will be instructional in nature covering fundamentals, fitness, and sportsmanship. There will be plans for a future competitive program
Justin Krofssik, assistant Shelton High wrestling coach, will be the coordinator of the program. The cost is $70 with discounts offered for siblings. Those interested must pre-register and sign a waiver at the Shelton Community Center.
