Thirteen was the magic number for the Shelton girls basketball team Wednesday.
Kelsey Pendagast, Lauren McCone and Brittany Lampert all scored 13 points as the Gaelettes defeated Law 58-53 in the first round of their holiday tournament.
Shelton, which jumped out to a 23-17 halfime lead, improved to 3-3, overcoming right 3-pointers by the Lawwomen.
Sheltion will face Norwalk, a 54-43 winner over Bunnell in Wednesday's first game , in the finals on Friday. Law will take on Bunnell in the consolation contest.
