Dan Orlovsky backed up Matt Schwab in Houston for two years. Now the former Shelton High School and University of Connecticut quarterback figures to do the same for Peyton Manning in Indianapolis.

Orlovsky, who was released by the Texans after they re-signed Matt Leinart, has agreed to terms with the Colts.

"I'm just waiting to get my travel information from Indy," Orlovsky told the Indianapolis Star on Sunday. "Once I get that I'll head to the airport. I'm excited about it, for sure.

"I'm excited about the challenge of going up there and learning about a pretty complex and new offense and having the opportunity to go learn and compete and be a part of a good football team and a good organization."

Orlovsky, 27, should see some playing time in the preseason as Manning will miss the start of training camp while recovering from neck surgery in May.

The Colts' other signal-callers include two-year backup Curtis Painter, Nate Davis and rookie Mike Hartline.

Since 2005,  Orlovsky has appeared in 13 games in three seasons with Detroit and Houston, seven as a starter. He has passed for 1,679 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
