Shelton Athlete Honored by CT Soccer Coaches

Christian Heritage junior recognized by state coaches association.

Two members of the Christian Heritage School (CHS) boys varsity soccer team, one from Shelton, were honored at the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association (CSCA) All State Banquet on Jan. 26.

Shelton resident Christian Schneider, a midfielder, and Nathaniel Obrecht, of Trumbull, a defender, are both juniors at CHS and have seen playing time on the varsity squad since they were in the 8th grade.

Both players were honored earlier this year with selections to the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) and the Western New England Regional Prep All Star Teams. They helped lead their team to the HVAL Conference Championship Finals for the third straight season and to winning the State Championship in the Prep SS Division of the Connecticut Prep State Soccer Tournament.

They also led Christian Heritage to its second straight New England Prep School Tournament berth this past fall. They are looking forward to adding to their success next season at CHS and as they continue their careers in college.

"This has been a great year for our team and I'm really honored to have been recognized by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association,” Schneider said Wednesday. “I just want to continue to improve my game and look forward to getting on the field again with the guys next season."
