Will Shelton's 'Smart Sticker' Win in DC?

The Shelton Intermediate School Robotics team developed a sticker that changes color to indicate rotten eggs. They'll be judged in Washington, D.C. this week.

The robotics team is one of four that will be honored at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on June 19. At this ceremony, the team will find out if they have been selected as the eventual winner of the First LEGO League (FLL) Global Innovation Award.

The FLL is designed to encourage and assist student teams to further develop their innovative solutions to real-world problems. This year, the FLL Food Factor season challenged kids around the world to solve a food safety problem.

Shelton's team, SIS Robotic Revolution, created the 'Smart Sticker,' a sticker that goes on the outside of an egg carton and changes color to indicate when the eggs have gone bad. They were inspired after , when many residents lost power for days and had to empty their refrigerators of rotten food.
