School's Closed, but Shelton Offices Opening Late

Shelton City Hall will open at 9:30 this morning. The libraries will open at 11:00 AM and the Senior Center will be closed.

Shelton Schools are closing early today (Jan. 21) because as much as 11 inches of snow may fall by tonight.

The National Weather Service is calling for snow likely after 3 p.m. today with a 2 to 4 inches possible by nightfall. Another 3 to 7 inches could fall by Wednesday.

Bitter cold is also predicted.

The forecast is:
  • Snow likely, mainly after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 20. North wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
  • Tonight Snow with widespread blowing snow before 3 a.m., then widespread blowing snow and a chance of snow after 3am. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -8. Blustery, with a north wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.
  • Wednesday: A slight chance of snow before 9 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 14. Wind chill values as low as -10. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
