Shelton Ed Board to Mull Supt.'s Proposed 6.8% Increase

The Shelton School Board will review Supt. Freeman Burr's budget proposal on Jan. 29.

The proposed 6.8 percent increase includes 2.97 percent "roll over" increase due to contractual obligations.

The budget requests media specialists, counselors and psychologists, as well as additional teacher and tutor.

Moving items from Furniture, Technology and Maintenance Operations Projects to capital outlay would also reduce the total request.

Full Day Kindergarten implementation costs are also included.

The total recommended request as presented is $70,056,575, of which $4,456,575 is new money required, he said.

According to the school district Website, the budget meeting starts at 5 p.m. in Conference Room C and the regular board meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Board Room, both at 382 Long Hill Ave.
