Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro visited last week for an assembly in conjunction with Read Across America. DeLauro discussed the importance of reading with students and then read them Sylvia Rosa-Casanova's book "Mama Provi and the Pot of Rice."
Afterwards, the school's art teacher, Mike Cooper, and students presented DeLauro with a thank-you gift they had made: a banner poster of Dr. Seuss's famous Cat in the Hat. DeLauro, who shares a birthday with Dr. Seuss, said the day was "one of the best" she's had "in a very long time."
