Half of Shelton High Fire Code Violations Fixed

About 260 of 579 Fire Code violations at Shelton High School have been corrected, but some of the remaining repairs will be more costly and time-consuming.

Some of the violations were lack of sprinklers in maintenance and shop areas, lack of regulation fire doors and windowless classrooms on the upper floors.

"We expect 80 percent will be rectified before school starts," said Supt. Freeman Burr.

Masonry work has begun but the remaining fixes will be time-consuming, expensive and won't be able to come out of the operating budget, officials said.
