"That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. This person clearly has a vendetta with the mayor. Last time I checked, my exact house and exact same property would be taxed at close to DOUBLE in surrounding towns. Look at surrounding towns that are struggling to get businesses into their towns. The same people posting this are the same people that would be crying the blues and bashing the city and officials when their taxes go up. And not for anything, have you seen the greed in the White house lately? If you really have an axe to grind, take a look there. I love my town. Born and raised and never left. If you don't like it move to Trumbull, but good luck affording it." - Dina Lynn
"Just a tad over-dramatic. I agree Shelton is being overdeveloped but people tend to forget under our current mayor Shelton has consistently had some of the lowest taxes in Fairfield county and businesses are coming not going, houses are selling and Shelton is a wonderful community. Corporate Greed is everywhere not just Shelton. I say give me a break...LOL" - Lisa Shamaly "Seriously? This is journalism? And it's on your front page, no less. Pathetic." - David Oxford (Comments transferred from Shelton Patch Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SheltonPatch)

Corporate greed is indeed everywhere, and low taxes are great. But overdevelopment transformed once-tranquil Long Island into a traffic-choked nightmare packed with stress monkeys. It'll do the same to Shelton if we let it. Can't we slow things down a bit?

We can't have it both ways. Either we live with development or pay the price with higher taxes.

Why is it the panel for this event does not include a single advocate for gun-owners' rights? WithRead More all due respect to Chief McNamara, why does the panel no include a person who can speak to gun safety from a gun-owning civilian's perspective? ML, you claim that the assembled folks "do not offer judgements about gun ownership" but they are not including a single voice that can offer perspective on gun ownership. I have been to "education" sessions sponsored by Meg's March for Change and they are one-sided indoctrinations into gun control advocacy. >>>> I was in Hartford for the public hearings in January when both Meg and March co-founder Nancy gave their personal testimonies and they all but threatened the legislators on the panel with election day retribution for all those who did not tow the gun-control line of thinking (i.e. March and CAGV). To suggest that Meg "does not offer judgements" is fallacious and disingenuous.
