Shelton Republican Ben McGorty Wins State Rep Seat

Republican Ben McGorty won the special election Tuesday for state representative in the 122nd District, defeating Arlene Liscinsky. Both are Shelton residents.

The special election was held to fill the remaining term of Larry Miller, who passed away on May 31, as state representative for 122nd District.

According to the Valley Independent Sentinel, McGorty is a real estate agent with William Raveis. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. McGorty's community involvement includes serving as a volunteer with the Huntington Fire Department, Deputy Fire Marshal Shelton Fire Department, basketball coach and volunteer at St. Lawrence Church.

McGorty is a 25 year volunteer with the Shelton Fire department and serves on the Board of Fire Commissioners in Shelton.
