A New Canaan woman brought two diamond rings to a local jeweler to be repaired. The stone had fallen out of one ring, and she noticed the diamond in her engagement ring was loose. When she returned to pick up the repaired rings, the jeweler told her the "diamonds" were actually cubic zirconia.The woman, who recently moved to Connecticut from the West Coast, said the rings were reset and appraised four years ago, at which time she was told one ring was worth $11,500 and $10,800.

A 73-year-old Redding man suffering from dementia pointed a shotgun at his wife whom he thought was an intruder at their home last week.

Redding Police arrested the man, took custody of his shotgun and charged him with reckless endangerment.

No one was injured.

A man tried to shoplift a bag of shrimp and two steaks on Sunday, Aug. 21, from the Stop and Shop supermarket on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, managers told police.

Police said that although authorities first thought the suspect was drunk, it was later determined that he had been smoking marijuana. In the end, the man with the alleged munchies for surf and turf wound up with .

On Tuesday night, Norwalk police, with help from some nearby police agencies, blocked all exits to the Wal-Mart parking lot at 650 Main Ave.and . Drivers from Fairfield County and even other parts of Connecticut had been meeting up at car rallies at the parking lot, and the store management wanted it the non-shoppers to go away.

Police charged a Wilton man with in what was probably some intimate activities. This would be fine, if the woman had given her consent—but she alleges that her ex taped her without her knowledge or approval. Police confiscated several data storage items belonging to the accused, and, upon evaluating the files, issued a warrant for the man’s arrest.

A man in at 2 a.m. after purposefully parking illegally in a handicapped spot to prove some kind of point about Shelton police not enforcing parking laws. He proceeded to call the station 15 times before police showed up, when, ultimately, the man was tasered and arrested for showing aggressive behavior towards officers.
