Six Charged With DUI During Checkpoint
The following information comes from a press release by the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.
On Friday, May 27, the Shelton Police Department conducted a DUI
checkpoint. 1,034 motorists were interviewed during the DUI checkpoint and four people were arrested and charged with DUI. Shelton Police have more DUI checkpoints planned this year. In addition, officers will still be out strictly enforcing the motor vehicle laws, especially DUI, this summer.
The following people were arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence:
- Thomas Kapitan, age 31 of Ansonia.
- Linda Dapp, age 59 of Derby.
- James Pluff, age 28 of Shelton.
- Michael Berescik, age 26 of Shelton.
The patrol division made two additional arrests for DUI this holiday weekend. James Hall, age 22 of Shelton, was arrested on May 29 and charged with DUI and
0perating with a suspended license. Also on May 29, Nisa Malick, age 20 of Shelton, was arrested and charged with DUI.

James Hall was released on a $1,000 bond. The other five were released on
$500 bonds and all six were given a court date of June 10 at state superior court in Derby.
