Shelton Police Nab Serial Burglar

The following information comes from a press release by the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.

On June 7, received reports of several cars, sheds and one residence having been entered and items stolen from each. The thefts were noticed when residents awoke and went to their cars. In one instance, a resident left his car parked in the driveway. The suspect entered the car, stole items from the car and used the garage door remote control to enter the garage attached to the house and steal several thousand dollars worth of tools. The area had been plagued in the past three weeks of similar incidents.

On the same date at about 11:15 a.m., an alert neighbor noticed a suspicious male in a pickup truck in an adjacent wooded area. Several police officers arrived and located 39-year-old Christopher Right with numerous tools and electronics in his vehicle. As officers  were speaking to Right, he ran from them. Officers ran after Right and tackled him in the backyard of a house. Right fought with officers and was subdued by deployment of a taser. Upon searching Right’s vehicle, officers located many of the items stolen from the previous night. Officers also located items stolen during previous days. 

Right was charged with second degree burglary, this degree burglary, two counts third degree larcent, first degree criminal mischief, larceny sixth degree, assault on a police officer and interfering with a police officer. Right is being held on a $300,000 bond and will be arraigned today in Derby Court.

Right had recently been released from jail after being arrested for similar offenses last year. Police expect to make more arrests for the items recovered.

Residents are urged to lock their vehicles while parked in their driveways. Residents also are encourage to call police immediately when something appears suspicious.
