Shelton Men Arrested with Stolen Walmart Car Batteries

Allegedly stolen car batteries found in the back of a truck during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

A Shelton police officer on routine patrol on Bridgeport Ave. at 2 a.m. Sunday morning saw a truck leaving the rear parking lot of Walmart. The officer followed the truck and later conducted a traffic stop on Route 8 south for a motor vehicle violation.

Officer Richard Bailey approached the vehicle and saw approximately 30 car batteries in the bed of the truck marked “Return to Wal-Mart.”

An investigation by officers determined that the batteries were stolen.

The driver of the truck, 45-year-old Brian Vincent, and the passenger, 39-year-old David Mazerolle, both of Shelton, were arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree and criminal trespass in the third degree.

Both were released on a $2,500 bond and are scheduled to appear at Derby Court on May 23.
