Shelton Man Strangles Mother of 3-Month-Old Baby

The following arrest information was provided by Lt. Bob Kozlowsky of the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.

On July 21, were called to investigate a domestic dispute. The victim told police that during the night she got into a dispute with Robert O’Brien and he threatened to beat her up. The victim locked herself in a room and went to call police, but O’Brien kicked in the door, broke the phone, and began punching the victim in the head and body. O’Brien also strangled the victim causing her to black out.

The victim was able to get her 3-month-old child and flee the residence and then call the police. O’Brien left his residence prior to police arriving there. O’Brien was later located by Bridgeport Police.

31-year-old Robert O’Brien, of Sagamore Road in Shelton, was arrested and charged with:

  • Violation of a Protective Order,
  • Assault 3rd Degree,
  • Interfering with an Emergency Call,
  • Threatening 2nd Degree,
  • Strangulation 2nd Degree,
  • Unlawful Restraint 1st Degree,
  • Disorderly Conduct, and
  • Risk of Injury to a Minor.

O’Brien was held on a $250,000 bond and will appear at Derby Court today.
