Shelton Man Pleads Guilty to Crack Possession

A 37-year-old Shelton man pleaded guilty to possession with intent to sell crack cocaine and heroin, according to U.S. state attorney David B. Fein.

David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Vince Hancock, also known as “Vincent Hancock,” “Tower,” and “T,” 37, of Shelton, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford to one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, cocaine base (“crack cocaine”) and heroin.        

According to court documents and statements made in court, on multiple occasions between June and September 2011, Hancock sold crack cocaine and heroin to an individual working with law enforcement.  On September 29, 2011, law enforcement officers conducted a court-authorized search of Hancock’s residence and recovered crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin and a .32 caliber firearm.        

When he is sentenced, Hancock faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $1 million.

This case is being investigated by the Ansonia Police Department, the and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with substantial assistance provided by the Derby Police Department, the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Marc H. Silverman.        

The Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative is aimed at reducing gun and gang violence, deterring illegal possession of guns, and improving the safety of residents of Connecticut’s cities. Participants in the initiative include community members and organizations as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
