Shelton Man Beaten with Gun, Mugged Outside Home

The victim was about to go to work, and the culprits are still at large.

A man was beaten with a handgun and robbed on his way to work on Wednesday morning. The victim was hospitalized for head lacerations. 

According to the Shelton Police Department, the victim - who works in the jewelry business - was leaving his home on Long Hill Avenue near Pine Rock Park at 6:15 a.m. to get to work.

Two white men in ski masks and hoodies approached him. One asked for two bags containing money and jewelry that the victim was carrying. The other then started beating the victim on the head with a handgun. Both suspects ran away after taking the bags.

Police say it appears to be a premeditated crime and that the suspects may have been familiar with the victim.
