No injuries were reported, according to Assistant Fire Chief Daryl Osiecki.

Shelton firefighters responded to a structure fire at 15 Long Hill Aveune Thursday morning that started around a window sill on the first floor, but was contained fairly quickly, according to Assistant Fire Chief Daryl Osiecki. No injuries were reported.

The call came in at around 9:10 a.m., Osiecki said, when residents reported that smoke coming from the area surrounding the residence. When officials arrived, they observed smoke coming from the rear of the home and used a fire extinguisher to contain the flames surrounding a window on the first-floor apartment.

"[The fire] wasn't really extending too fast," Osiecki said. "It wasn't a minor fire, but the damage itself was minimal."

Two adults and one child were inside of the second-floor apartment at the time of the fire, but were able to escape without injury. The family was allowed to re-enter the home about 45 minutes later once the fire was extinguished and officials checked the building for further damage, Osiecki said.
