A car crashed into a gas pump Wednesday night in Shelton, WFSB reports.
The accident happened when a Mazda veered off of the road, drove through trees, crashed through a guard rail and ended up hitting the pump at the BP gas station located at 198 Leavenworth Road. The car landed its journey on its side, reportedly with occupants trapped inside.
Anthony Torraco told WFSB he had the night off from his job at the gas station on Wednesday.

"I come here late shift. I would have been changing the garbage cans and seeing a car come flying at me. That would have been nuts," Torraco said.
The driver and an additional person were taken to a nearby hospital. Their injuries are unknown.

[UPDATE - 8:32 a.m.]
Echo Hose Hook & Ladder reported they responded to this accident at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. Companies 1 and 5 were dispatched to the motor vehicle accident. Fire response crews used Paratech struts to stabilize the vehicle. They had to use the Jaws of Life to cut open the vehicle's roof and remove the occupant. Captain Plavcan stated that "all hazards were mitigated and the patient was transported to the hospital by Shelton EMS."
