Edward Woods, 45, of Freedom Way, Shelton, is charged with driving under the influence and driving without insurance.
Police said Woods was weaving in traffic on Bridgeport Avenue during construction and struck the side mirror.
Woods' bond was set at $500 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
In a second incident, Michael DeLucia, 52, of Rugby Road, Shelton, is charged with DUI and failure to drive in the proper lane.
Police said DeLucia drove off the road, hit a will and hit a pole on East Village Road.
His bond was set at $500 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
