Police Arrest Buck Stop Burglar

The following information comes from a press release by Detective Ben Trabka of the Shelton Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

On February 23, arrested 19-year-old Jonathan Russell for a string of car burglaries which occurred in January 2012. Russell was served with two arrest warrants at Derby Court for car burglaries. Russell is currently incarcerated for his arrest on February 1 for the knifepoint robbery of the

Shelton Police Detectives had previously found numerous stolen items in Russell’s house while executing search and seizure warrants for the Buck Stop robbery. The items were later identified as being stolen from parked unlocked cars during late night and early morning hours. In one instance, a house garage door was left open and Russell went into the car while parked in the garage.  Russell was charged with third degree burglary, third degree larceny, two counts of sixth degree larceny, third degree criminal mischief, and fifth degree larceny.

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and houses at all times. Police request anyone seeing suspicious activity late night and early morning hours to call the Shelton Police Department at 203-924-1544.
