Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run on Coram Avenue

This arrest information was provided by Lt. Robert Kozlwosky of the Shelton Police Dept. It does not indicate convictions.

On August 20 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Shelton Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the intersection of Coram Avenue and Myrtle Street for a motor vehicle accident. Units arrived on scene and located a truck crashed into a utility pole. The driver, 51-year-old Mark Floberg of Shelton, was extricated from the truck and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police also located the front bumper of a Mazda at the scene.

Based on an investigation by police, the truck was traveling north on Coram Avenue and was struck by a Mazda traveling west on Myrtle Steet. The impact caused the truck to hit and break the utility pole.

Police were able to locate the driver of the Mazda who fled the scene of the accident. The driver of the Mazda, 25-year-old Scott Condon of Shelton, was arrested and charged with second degree assault with a motor vehicle, DUI, evading responsibility, and failure to obey a stop sign. Condon was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear at Derby Court on September 4.

Floberg is still at the hospital in ICU, however, his injuries are non-life threatening. Coram Avenue between Kneen Street and Myrtle Street is still closed at this time while crews are repairing the utility pole.
