Shelton Cops: Ax-Wielding Man Tried to Break into Home

A man claiming to be homeless is accused of trying to chop his way into a Saginaw Trail home using an ax on Aug. 8.

Keith David Scibeck, 33, is charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and attempted fifth-degree larceny.

Police said Scibeck knew the homes' resident. After he started trying to break the door,  the resident called police and he dropped the ax by the door and ran.

He was later arrested at Bridgeport Hospital, police said.

Scibeck's bond was set at $100,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
