Around 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 7, Shelton Fire Department companies 1, 4, 5 and Ladder 33 were dispatched to a residence on Joseph Court for a possible fire. Upon arrival, the first units found a two-story house with heavy smoke coming from the front door. Crews found a fire extending into the basement. Two handlines were stretched and the fire was knocked down in under 15 minutes. Searches for hotspots and additonal flames were negative and no injuries were reported. The fire was placed under control in about an hour.
During this incident, a fire alarm at Shelton Intermediate School in Company 1's area was handled by Derby and Company 3.
