Former Shelton Police Officer Arrested on Drug Charges
Casertano now faces a mix of charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a narcotic outside of its original container, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of narcotics, according to WTNH.
Former police officer Loren Casertano, who was following an internal affairs investigation, was reportedly arrested via warrant on Friday on drug charges.
According to a report on WTNH, the 24-year veteran of Shelton's police force turned himself in upon learning of the warrant for his arrest. Casertano now faces a mix of charges including possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a narcotic outside of its original container, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of narcotics, according to the report.
Casertano’s attorney told WTNH that the new drug charges are in retaliation for not settling an ethics complaint Casertano brought against the Shelton chief of police. He indicated that the arrest is the result of police finding drugs in a locker that Casertano “has not had access to for almost a year.”
