UPDATED: Police Search for Suspect in Armed Robbery of Wells Fargo Bank

Update: 5:45 p.m.
Shelton police were called to Wells Fargo Bank on Coram Ave. just after 4 p.m. Thursday for a reported bank robbery in which a man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to police, a white man with a gray briefcase wearing a black hooded sweatshirt entered the bank and displayed a handgun.

The robber fled the scene, prompting a lockdown at nearby City Hall.

The lockdown was lifted by 5 p.m. and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Shelton detectives are investigating the robbery and ask that anyone with information contact the department at 203-924-1544. Calls can be confidential.

Update: 5:15 p.m.
The lockdown at City Hall has been lifted, according to Shelton police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

Shelton City Hall is on lockdown Thursday afternoon after reports of an armed robbery at Wells Fargo Bank on Coram Ave.

According to initial reports, a white male wearing black clothing robbed the bank at 320 Coram Ave. at gunpoint shortly after 4 p.m.

City Hall was put on lockdown moments later as a result of the robbery.
