A 911 call from a resident with a detailed description and the vigilance of a police officer led to the arrest Wednesday of four people who were allegedly trying to break into a Shelton home.

A Foxhunt Road homeowner called Shelton Police at 9:30 a.m. on March 5 to report that people were attempting to break into the house, but had just fled when they noticed someone was home. The resident provided police with a description of the vehicle the suspects were driving.

"An officer, who was working a private duty job in the area, relayed to responding officers that a vehicle matching the description recently drove past him and was heading towards Route 110," Shelton Police Lt. Bob Kozlowsky said. "Officers were quickly able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop."

The four people inside the truck were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and criminal attempt to commit third-degree burglary. They are:

  • Walter Young, 57, of Ansonia ($5,000 bond)
  • Danielle McDaniel, 28, of Ansonia ($500 bond)
  • Sandra Purcell, 40, of Howe Avenue in Shelton ($5,000 bond)
  • John Shibilski, 34, of Ansonia ($5,000 bond)

McDaniel and Young were both released on bond and are scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on March 19. Purcell and Shibilski were held on bond. They are scheduled to appear at Derby Superior Court on March 6.
