Full Day Kindergarten

My wife and I were at ESS Friday and heard that full day kindergarten may not happen next year.  I am amazed that our town leaders would allow Shelton to be the only town in Fairfield County to not have a full day program.

Our children and teachers are constantly being measured against other towns so why would allow our kids to start with the disadvantage of a half day program.  If the answer to that question is increased taxes we should all be ashamed.  If the answer is that our town leaders cannot work effectively with the Board of Ed than we should look for new leaders.

In this day of Common Core education we cannot allow our kids to fall behind other towns, counties and states.  My older children are already dealing with the challenges created by all the new levels of testing.  I don't want it to be any harder for my youngest who is entering kindergarten next year.

If you agree please contact your alderman and our mayor ASAP and encourage them to do the right thing.

Thanks
