Vivian Burr, Former Trumbull Town Clerk, Volunteer, Dies at 90

Town Clerk Suzanne Burr Monaco is her daughter.

 

Vivian Burr, a longtime Trumbull volunteer who led the Planning and Zoning Commission, died Jan. 20.

According to her obituary on the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home website, "She was active in all facets of life – PTA, St. Mary’s and St. Theresa Women’s Guild, Church Choirs, the Trumbull Historical Society and the Trumbull Republican Party. She served on many boards and commissions, was Chairman of Planning and Zoning, and Trumbull Town Clerk for 8 years. She ran for the position of First Selectman, and although not elected, continued to be active until her early eighties."

First Selectman Tim Herbst on Wednesday called Burr "a political legend, respected by both sides of the aisle."

She is survived by her two children: George Burr and his wife MaryAnn of Shelton, and Suzanne Burr and her husband, Domenic Monaco of Trumbull; two grandchildren: David Burr and his wife, Christina of Huntington, and Lisa Burr Carloto of Trumbull; as well as four great-grandsons: Nicholas and Matthew Carloto, and Ryan and Ethan Burr; a brother, Frank Liburdy and his wife, Fran of Shelton; nephews: godson Freeman Burr and his wife, Eileen of Bloomfield; L. Thomas Sands and his wife, Debbie of Huntington; John Sands and his wife MaryEllen of North Haven; and several other cousins, according to Abriola.
